The Hillyer art gallery at Smith College, Northampton, is now open to the public on Saturdays. The principal addition to the gallery of paintings, the present year, is a most excellent and life-like portrait of the founder of the gallery of art, Winthrop Hillyer, painted during the present year by N. B. Kittrell. An extensive series of colored plates, representing the noted altar pieces in the most celebrated churches in the world, as well as the master-pieces of fresco painting by the old masters, have also been added to the collection.
