The following memorial has been sent to the Columbia College Boat Club by some friends of boating among the Harvard alumni:
We, the undersigned, graduates and friends of Harvard University, hereby wish to express our entire approval of the decision of the referee, R. C. Watson, in regard to the race appointed to have been rowed between Columbia and Harvard on July 3, at New London. We also wish to express our complete disapproval of the course pursued by the Harvard crew in regard to the above race. And, finally, we wish to express our deep regret for the injustice that has been done the Columbia crew, and our sincere hope that the pleasant relations heretofore existing between Harvard and Columbia may continue unbroken in the future.
BOSTON, July 7, 1882.
Among the signatures to the above are those of Alex. Agassiz, '55, Walter Trimble, '79, A. Hemenway, '75, and F. B. Greenough, '59.
