We should like to see the students take a little more interest in some of the courses in modern languages, and in this desire we are, no doubt, warmly seconded by the instructors themselves.

That well-known murmur, "not prepared," repeated by so many men in some classes, must carry with it a great deal that is disheartening and disappointing to an instructor who takes any interest at all in his sections. Because a course is easy, a fellow should not entirely neglect all preparation of lessons in the same; on the contrary, regular attention should be given to a "soft snap" for the very reason that it is "soft" and does not occupy so much time as other courses. We all know how easy it is to neglect the above-mentioned courses, how much they are neglected, and unless an improvement is made in this direction we fear that many will experience some decidedly frigid weather about the time of the semi-annuals.
