THE first intercollegiate Lacrosse match was played last Saturday between Columbia and our own team, and resulted in a victory for Harvard. The playing was not remarkable on either side, and the victory was an easy one. Owing to a misunderstanding about the hour the number of spectators was not large; but there was considerable enthusiasm expressed, and the occasion was by no means uninteresting. Lacrosse seems to be gradually gaining favor, and it is not improbable that it will become firmly established as an acknowledged branch of college athletics.
