THE season of lectures given under the auspices of college societies has fairly begun. The first of a series of four, on Monday evenings, under the auspices of the Philosophical Club, was given this week by Mr. James. Another series of four lectures, on Thursday evenings, has been arranged by the Finance Club, to begin next week. Those who had the pleasure of hearing Mr. Atkinson last year will be gratified to learn that two of the lectures will be given by him. The course to be given by the Natural History Society will soon be announced, and we may predict for it as great a success this year as during the past three. The subjects of the Philosophical Club and Finance Club lectures are given in another column. All the lectures are upon subjects of such general interest that it is to be hoped that there will be a large attendance to support the clubs in their efforts to provide interesting and instructive courses.
