H. A. A. A meeting of the H. A. A. will be held on Jarvis Field, Thursday and Friday, May 22 and 23, 1879, at 4.30 o'clock, precisely. The following is the order of events:-
Thursday, May 22.
1. 1-mile walk.
2. 100-yards dash (trial-heats).
3. 1/4-mile run.
4. Running broad jump.
5. 100-yards dash (final heats).
6. 1-mile run.
7. Throwing the hammer (16 lbs.).
8. 120-yards hurdle-race (3 1/2 feet hurdles).
9. 1/2 mile run.
10. 220-yards dash.
11. 3-mile run.
Friday, May 23.
1. Bicycle race (handicap mile-heats, best 2 in 3).
2. 100-yards dash (trial heats), open event.
3. Putting the shot.
4. 1/5-mile hurdle-race.
5. Hop, step, and jump.
6. 1/2-mile run, open event.
7. Running high jump.
8. Bicycle race (final heat).
9. 1-mile walk, open event.
10. Tug-of-war (8 men from each class, to be chosen by the captains of crews).
11. Pole jumping.
12. Steeple-chase.
The open events (Nos. 2, 6, and 9 of the above) are open to graduates; to members of the Tufts and Harvard Athletic Associations; to the Union Boat Club, and to the Young Men's Christian Union, of Boston.
Each competitor will be charged an entrance fee of one dollar, to be paid when he enters his name, and to be returned to all who cover the distance.
Entries to be made by mail or in person to the Executive Committee, at 22 Little's Block, on or before May 20.
Members are entitled to members' tickets only; all extra tickets 25 cents apiece, to be obtained from the Executive Committee, or at 42 Grays, on any day after May 10, except Saturdays and Sundays, from 2 to 3 P. M. No tickets can be obtained on the days of the meetings after 3 o'clock, and no tickets will be sold at the gate.
