WE are glad to see so many changes for the better in the Elective Pamphlet for next year. The most important change, of course, is the giving up of most of the required work and the substitution of elementary electives in its place. We sincerely hope that the success of this experiment will be proved by the selection of these elementary courses by a large number of students. The danger is that men may be tempted to neglect these for more advanced courses, and so fail to get the benefit which they formerly derived from the required work. We are glad to see among the Greek courses one which is intended for those who wish to acquire the ability to read ordinary Greek prose at sight.
