THOSE of us who live in Weld, or are in the habit of paying frequent visits to that hall after dark, will appreciate the Bursar's kindness in promising to place a gas lantern in the portico between the two entry doors. Such a lantern hung there a few years ago, but was removed because of the malicious damage done it by the students. We hope all will recognize the utility of lighting that dark corner too much to give again a pretext for taking it away. The Weld entries are proverbially uncomfortable, on account of both the darkness at all seasons and the cold in winter that pervade them. This, at least, is a step toward reform; and, doubtless, it depends only on the conduct of the students themselves to get rid of many relics of a similarly barbaric nature.
