YESTERDAY being Washington's Birthday, the event was celebrated by examinations in the morning and afternoon. We have always objected to this day being passed over in silence by Harvard College, and it is probably owing to our former remonstrances that the Faculty have chosen this neat and inexpensive manner of celebrating an event to which we all look back with pleasure. We have always been taught to emulate the Father of his Country, and an especially good opportunity to do so was given yesterday. As he was in the habit of cutting apple-trees, we might have cut examinations, and when requested by the Dean to show cause, the answer would be ready, - "I cannot tell a lie, I was sick."
