H. DENTON, Captain.THERE will be an election of president and vice-president of the Dining-Hall Association next Wednesday, at the dinner hour. Nominations in writing can be made at the Auditor's office, but each nomination must be signed by at least six supporters. Elections for directors will be held later.
THE first half of the Senior class will hand in a Forensic Tuesday, October 17, on the subject, "Does the mind ever sleep?" The second half of the class will write on the question, "Are men accountable in any form or way for sins of ignorance?" and will hand in their Forensics on October 31.
THE vicissitudes of human events were shown last year in a case that occurred not far from Cambridge. One man wrote out his Forensics and handed them in as they came due. His mark for the year was 65. The Forensics were given back, and copied out, word for word, by another man who had been away during the year. No. 2 had a mark of 87 for his Forensics.
A WEEK from to-morrow, Saturday, October 14, a practice-game of foot-ball will be played behind the Scientific School by two Fifteens selected from the best players who practise during the week. From these two Fifteens the University team will probably be selected, and all who care for a position upon the latter should practise regularly during the coming week.

A CHALLENGE from the Toronto, Canada, Foot-Ball Club has been accepted, and the game will probably be played October 27, at Montreal.
DOGS cannot be brought or kept in any room in a college building, or in Dolton's or Little's blocks, or the dormitory with the hideous name.
AT a meeting of the Base-Ball club, the old officers were re-elected: i.e., President, H. C. Ernst, '76; Captain, F. W. Thayer, '78; Secretary, A. H. Latham, '77; Treasurer, W. Mason, '76.
THE third and deciding game between last year's Freshman Nines of Yale and Harvard was played June 23 at Hartford, and resulted in a victory for Harvard. Score, 20 to 12.
THE officers of the Holworthy Boat Club are: H. J. Harwood, '77, President; J. R. W. Hitchcock, '77, Secretary and Treasurer. A. W. Morgan, '78, who was elected captain, has resigned.
THE candidates for the University crew were on the river last Monday. It is the first time, we believe, in our boating history that the University has been out on the first Monday of the of the term.
The second ten of the Everett Athenaeum are Messrs. H. P. Bissell, N. M. Brigham, G. C. Cutler, J. M. Gardiner, J. T. Gilbert, R. Heard, H. C. Mulligan, F. B. Patten, E. Robinson, H. R. Sargent.
No injunction has been put upon the occupation of the building with the hideous name, but whoever takes a room there will be notified by the college authorities that he moves in at his own risk, and that rooms so recently plastered should not be occupied.
No persons but members of the H. U. B. C. are admitted to the boat-house. Any one connected with the University can become a member by paying three dollars, and signing the constitution. Keys can be obtained of Mr. H. G. Danforth, 2 Weld.
AT a meeting of the Freshman class, Wednesday afternoon, H. S. Bond, Jr., was chosen president, and C. H. Hobbs secretary of the class. E. D. Jordan was elected captain of the Foot-Ball eleven; F. M. Holden, captain of the Ball Nine; S. Shillito, captain of the crew. There are about 225 men in the class, and a good nine and crew are expected.
AT a meeting of the Weld Boat Club, held on Wednesday last, the following officers were elected: T. M. Sloane, '77, President; J. Burr, '79, Secretary and Treasurer; P. W. Page, '77, Captain.

THE Union Athletic Club of Boston will hold its fall meeting on the Boston Base-Ball grounds, Saturday, October 7, beginning at 2 1/2 P. M. Three races - the mile walk, quarter-mile run, and one-mile run - are open to all amateur competitors who choose to enter; and a special invitation has been sent to members of the H. A. A. to take part in these events. TWO prizes are offered in each of these three contests open to all amateurs; the entrance fee will be one dollar for each event, but this amount will be returned to those who take part in the sports for which they enter. Entries should be addressed to Harry M. Howard, Secretary Union Athletic Club, 18 Boylston Street, Boston. Blanks upon which to make entries will be furnished by the secretary of the Harvard Athletic Association at Holworthy 22, and he will supply any further information regarding the meeting that may be desired.
