Coach Rene Peroy's Varsity swordsmen will be up against stiff opposition when they battle for honors today and tomorrow in the Intercollegiate Fencing Association Championships at New York. The main ballroom of the Hotel Commodore will be the battleground.
A total of 12 colleges have entered teams in this annual combat. The three outstanding performers of the season have been Harvard, Yale, and Navy with the others providing keen competition throughout this season's duels. Army, Cornell, Princeton, M. I. T., and Columbia are among the others entered.
It is hard to say which team will come out on top. Harvard, for example, has beaten Princeton and lost to Navy, while Yale has defeated the Midshipmen but fell before the Tigers. The Eli fencers, however, trounced the Crimson team to the time of 16-11.
In the foils class Coach Peroy will use Robert C. Ackermann '36, Philip E. Lilienthal '36, and John Reppun '36. For the epee duels Richard Ford '36, Edward E. Langenau '35, Richard Morgan IV '36, and Frederick W. Sands '37 will take up the sabres in an attempt to bring a win to the Cambridge team.
