Students living in the seven Houses will be able to hear President Conant's address tomorrow evening in their living room easy chairs by tuning in to the Crimson Network, which is broadcasting the entire Convocation proceedings.
Coming on the air one day ahead of schedule in order to carry the special event, the Network will offer a half hour of recorded music, starting at 7:30 o'clock, and will switch to Sanders Theater at 8 o'clock. The official Network program schedule gets under way on Wednesday evening.
Mem Hall Show a Record
This program will be the Network's second special event broadcast of the summer session. The first broadcast of the session was the ten hour interview show which originated at Memorial Hall on Freshman registration day.
The Memorial Hall show, Network men said, set up a new record for the College radio station in the number of hours of consecutive broadcasting. Before Thursday the Network's longest period on the air had been the six hour stretch in May which, carrying the Kirkland House Dance broadcast, lasted until 1:30 o'clock in the morning.
New Network Equipment
Network officials announced last night that tomorrow's broadcast will be the first one to make use of the new Network equipment which has been built during the past few weeks.
Members of the College station's staff have been spending many hours every day making the Network's studio more soundproof, building an entirely new set of turntables, and putting together the technical equipment which was bought with the proceeds of last spring's advertising account.
Handling the announcing assignment in Memorial Hall tomorrow evening will be Robert S. Kieve '43, while Robert J. L. Waugh '43 and Lewis H. Strauss '45 will take care of the technical problems involved in the remote broadcast.
