Winter lectures offering an extensive opportunity for informal study in the arts has been announced by the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. The schedule includes a course of 30 lectures on "The History of Design" to be given by Henry Hunt Clark. Director of Design at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts; a series of eight talks on "The Appreciation of Painting and Sculpture" by W.H. Siple, assistant to the directors of the Fogg Art Museum: and a lecture to be given each Sunday afternoon from November to April, upon angles of ancient and classical art.
Subjects for the lectures range from "Persian and Mughal Painting". "Animals in Art", "Rhythm", "Greek Coins", and "Sumerian Art" to such topics as comparisons and contrasts in painting, and various features of landscaping.
The Museum also offers a number of aids to people interested in the fine arts. Large collections illustrating the history of literature, religion, and design are on exhibit at the museum, while free guidance to the galleries is offered by special appointment on two days a week.
