M. Aidan Kelly ’08
Magazine Chair
While the rest of the FM staff blunders through production night bleary-eyed and fueled only by trans-fats, Aidan always has a bounce in his step and a joke up his sleeve. We used to contemplate whether he was human or actually a big leprechaun, but now we’ve stopped questioning and just count our blessings as he edits, writes, and picks up broken pieces with speedy aplomb.
Aria S.K. Laskin ’08
Magazine Chair
Though she once pitched an Overheard that she herself had said, we were distraught when we couldn’t run it: Aria is just that funny. Rapier-sharp wit aside, this friend-of-many-fencers has blown us away with her editing skills and ability to make entire comp classes fall in love with her.
Ashley M. Pletz ’08
Artistic Director
After receiving a frantic phonecall, Ashley waltzes into the Crimson at 3 a.m., makes a few changes, and presto! Pages are transformed from editor-induced ugliness to designer-created beauty. Ashley takes thinking visually to a whole new level, using thoughtful touches and an extreme creative sense to make FM more than just pretty: hot.
Alwa A. Cooper ’08
Associate Editor
She’s ours! And the Advocate can’t have this fantastic writer, who has graced our pages with her insight on Asian-American stereotypes and free food at the Women’s Center. As someone whose stories hardly need editing, Alwa will certainly pass her skills on to a new generation of FMers.
Kimberly E. Gittleson ’08
Associate Editor
Our go-to for hard-hitting pieces about monumental changes in the curriculum has always been Kim. She has a sharp eye for trends that are changing Harvard, including the college consulting phenomenon and changes in the Core. Funny and radio-savvy, she’ll bring a fresh, investigative voice to the editing squad.
H. Max Huber ’09
Associate Editor
After completing his story about e-recruiting at Harvard, Max mentioned that he almost got sucked into the business-career vortex. But he also got a compliment from an editor at the Financial Times that his story was one that he would’ve run in his own newspaper. Stick with journalism, Max.
Nicola C. Perlman ’09
Associate Editor
Nicola’s got the kind of personality that gets her subjects to let down their guard—and lets her get a major scoop. Nicola coaxed professors into putting their writing up for public scrutiny and unearthed fun-related dirt from the campus life fellow. So when she’s not over at the pool with the water polo team, we can’t wait to have her here, teaching writers how to get the goods.
Peter B. Weston ’08
Associate Editor
Peter’s always been that sophisticated guy that everyone looks to for insightful ideas during writers’ meetings. And with stories about controversial postering and campaign slogans under his belt, there’s no doubt that he’ll offer the magazine his discriminating tastes and his flair for detail.
Nicole G. White ’09
Associate Editor
Nicole has willingly braved chlorine, Jell-O, amniotic fluid, and sweat to bring FM some of its best color reporting this year. Though we’ll miss her braving the evangelicals in Harvard Square and teaching us how to deliver a baby in a cinch, we’re happy to have her guiding new ones down her journalistic path.
Alyssa N. Wolff ’08
Associate Editor
Alyssa became a wonky politico in the weeks before writing an exposé on Harvard political partisans. A consummate writer and interviewer, Alyssa never shies away from being thorough. And with her deadpan story pitches at writers’ meetings, how could FM not bring this talented reporter into the fold?
Kara A. Culligan ’09
Nami Sung ’09
FM Photo Czars
With Nami’s semester of experience already under her belt (and with Kara not far behind), all those lovely pictures you see in FM will keep on coming. And even if it means early photo shoots at 45 Mt. Auburn or photocopying endless problem sets with the bootleg copy machine, they’ll still be all smiles—and all talent.
Devon L. Hein ’09
K. Sloan Strike ’09
FM Designers
Get this duo in the basement, and besides pop tunes blaring from the computer speakers, you also get some damn good pages. With these two at design meetings, photo shoots, and production nights next year, FM will continue a fine trend of being the best designed section of The Crimson.
