A. Haven Thompson ’07
Haven’s friend is her large orange bag, in which she carries her laptop, her iPal, her calendar, sometimes stickers, her notebook, and a small stock of Vitamin Water. Without her big orange bag, she is lost. Without Haven’s stock of optimism, kindness, amazing ideas, gorgeous writing, and unfailing ability to make an okay story into a beautiful one, FM would be lost. She is our big orange bag!
Stephen M. Fee ’07
Stephen loves an underdog, and we’re mighty happy that he chose to be FM’s benefactor this year. We will miss Stephen’s attention to detail, ability to write great content at the last minute, and his tender, no-nonsense approach to the steering of our ship. He was a singular leader, and he’s not even that fat.
Leon Neyfakh ’07
What would FM do without Leon? Friend, lifesaver, writer extraordinaire, our Editor-At-Large was far from an absentee contributor this year. His brainchildren—the positive psychology story, the faith issue, the study drug scrutiny—have been some of FM’s biggest successes. Always on call to lend his brain to fellow editors and freshman compers alike, Leon is, quite simply, the best.
Jenny P. Jordan ’08
Her fairy-tale princess curls and charming smile belie the naughty FTMs she edits each week. As reliable as midterms, Jenny’s consistency and diligence make this mag go round. She also likes kids (ew!) and is hilarious.
Sam Teller ’08
Sam’s contagious energy and spontaneity leads to late-night YouTube sing-a-longs and Lamont dance parties. From spearheading FM’s first-ever Reading Period issue to penning the weekly “Top 5” list, Sam is FM’s best bro.
S. Conrad Scott ’08
FM’s Southern beau, Conrad jumped ship from the Sports board to join us, and we’re so glad. From coaxing writers to turn in great content to trekking out to the Wonderland dog track to write a story on a rainy day, FM will miss its Georgia peach next year. Did we mention he’s funny?
Daniel J. Mandel ’08
We don’t just call Danny “D.J.” because those are his initials: he’s the official tune-spinner and tall tale-teller of the FM gang. Bringing fun, techno, and tales of Alpha Epsilon Pi debauchery to every production night, no issue would be complete without his contributions.
April H.N. Yee ’08
“What’s the angle?” is her mantra, to the benefit of us all: April’s byline has graced publications across the country, and FM has been lucky to call her our own for the past two years. When not tirelessly editing scrutinies and ITMs, she has educated compers (and her fellow editors!) about the ins and outs of journalism and job applications.
Laura McKiernan ’08
No hour is too early or idea too obscure for FM’s intrepid photo chair. She’s shadowed Project Runway contestants, created the perfect prop for our sayonara Larry Summers issue, and photoshopped and taken hundreds of photos. Luckily for FM, she’ll be sticking around The Crimson as photo chair next year.
Chelsea Grate ’08
Neither long hours or late copy could thwart Chelsea’s design know-how. Bringing determination and a self-depricating attitude to each task, Chelsea would always do the scrut.
