George A. Thampy ’10, who was
featured as the third-place contestant in the 2002 documentary
“Spellbound,” eventually won the Scripps National Spelling Bee in 2000.
And now that he’s here, FM decided to jump (that’s J-U-M-P) at the
opportunity (that one we can’t spell).
George A. Thampy ’10: Omphaloskepsis. It means the
contemplation of one’s navel; [words like this] give the English
language its color, its vibrancy.
