Some good sounds coming out of Beverly. Sandy's Jazz Revival has Harry Sweets Edison, great former trumpeter with Count Basie. That's not such a big deal since the Count has had many former trumpeters. But Sweets is a good one. He plays through Saturday.

Next Thursday moving in to Nickerson Field at Boston University are Grover Washington Jr., George Benson and Larry Coryell. Benson and Coryell will provide lots of good guitar music. Washington is a pretty good saxophone player to boot.

This Sunday at Copley Square you can hear the Wayne Naus-Greg Hopkins Big Band for free. The concert begins at 5:30.

Starting Monday guitarist Charlie Byrd will appear with his trio at Sandy's. Byrd fancies himself a jazz and classical guitarist--"Blues and Bach" is a trademark. His trio, with brother Joe on bass and Bertrell Knox on drums should provide some interesting club music.
