If you're flying back to wherever you live this week instead of going to a rock concert, you're a smart boy. Boston is Deadsville, USA this weekend. "And God said let there be boredom and there was Boston this weekend."

Actually, there is no reason why, if all your exams are over, you're even bothering to stay around here anyway. If your exams are not over, you should be studying, and not going to rock concerts unless you're taking some Sociology course where you have to. Otherwise, you're a sick boy.

So you're going to need a written excuse from a certified doctor to go to a rock concert in Boston this week.

The following concerts are included:

James Cotton Blues Band. Sanders Theater, here. May 28, 8 p.m. They're even trying to bring concerts here to make you go so you don't study for your exams. Don't let this one fool you. After the concert is over, you'll wish it had been a Hum 103 lecture.

William Nininger. Passim Coffee House, May 28-30, 8:30-10:30 p.m. Also appearing: Bill Novick and Guy Van Duser, and, if you go, your conscience will be there, wearing a blue book for a tie.

Ruthanna. Old West Church, Boston, May 29, 7-10 p.m. You won't get into Divinity School this way, no matter what you think.
