The Belle of Amherst. Julie Harris is reportedly magnificent in this one-woman show about the life of Emily Dickenson. At the Colonial Theatre, 106 Boylston St., through April 17. Performances evenings at 8 p.m., matinees Wednesday and Saturday at 2 p.m.

The Blacks. Jean Genet's symbolic clown drama uses the metaphor of race hatred to suggest the absurdity of society and life in general. At the Loeb, April 8-11 and 14-17, at 8 p.m. Tickets $3 and $3.50.
